Studio Kalangou is a two-hour daily news radio program on Niger which since January 2016 has offered daily newspapers in 5 languages (French, Hausa, Zarma, Tamashek and Peulh), a major debate and dialogue program "Le Forum”, and magazines on daily life issues. Informing and encouraging dialogue between the different components of society "to the rhythm of Niger", to contribute to the development efforts of one of the poorest countries in the world, at the heart of the Sahelian crises, this is the ambition of Studio Kalangou. .Studio Kalangous program, produced from its central office in Niamey by Nigerien journalists, is broadcast by a network of partner radio stations located in all regions of the country. In 2022, 52 private and community radio stations will relay live studio broadcasts, potentially covering 70% of the countrys population. Some Studio Kalangou programs are also broadcast on video by 7 partner televisions. The radio bulletins are also accessible via a mobile telephone platform, by a free number (321 on Airtel), in partnership with the social enterprise Viamo. Finally, information from Studio Kalangou is also disseminated on the web and on social networks. The Studio Kalangou team is made up of around forty journalists, technicians and translators working within its central editorial office and a network of around forty correspondents across the country. The project is the result of a partnership between Fondation Hirondelle, the Community Radio Network (RACOM) and the Association of Private Radio and Television Promoters of Niger (APRTPN). The continuous training of journalists and studio technicians is a key element of the project, to allow its local and sustainable anchoring. Specific training also benefits journalists from partner radio stations that the studio hosts for intensive courses. Students are also welcomed in practical internships.
